1. Global Warming
Temperatures are reaching all time highs and lows due to the greenhouse effect we are creating through industry. In order to stop this problem we need to figure out a way to replace the harmful emissions we let out through everyday activities like driving a car to work.
2. Terrorism
Recently terrorist attacks have been occurring more frequently than in the pass. This is due to the extremist group ISIS. In order to instill peace back to the world terrorism needs to be diminished, meaning the termination of ISIS
3. Media Exploitation
Nowadays criminals are treated as celebrities. News reports insist on getting the inside scoop of the suspects instead of speaking about the victims. In order to stop this there needs to be rules and restrictions against newscasters at a scene of a crime.
4. Obesity
Especially in the United States but also everywhere else there has been an increase in laziness and overall an increase in childhood obesity. Children are not learning correct food eating patterns and they are creating a bad attitude about food. In order to stop these we need to educate parents on how their children should be eating because they are the ones that should control what they eat.
5. Poverty
We can never completely abolish poverty, it will always be out there in some form, however we can reduce it through proper fiscal policy enacted by the government of each respective poor nation.
6. Oil Shortages
Oil is really the backbone of industry. Without oil, profits for literally everyone will decline and I think we can see that happening in recent days on the stock market. Simple fact is that we are running out of oil and in order to make sure our country can still fuel itself we need to find an alternative fuel source.
7. Hunger
This issue has to do with poverty, people don't have money or they are spending what little money they have and spending it on non essential stuff. An issue like this can only be solved by reducing poverty and informing the general public of cheap healthy food options.
8. Credit theft
With the world becoming very tech savvy, a lot of payments have become unsecured and people don't realize this. Then they go and buy something and see that their information was stolen. In order to solve this we need to create a form of a database that is secure enough to handle all web payments
9. Ignorance
People are just unaware of events going on. Even though people are glued to their phones they are soaked up by nonsense. Meanwhile huge news events are happening and going unnoticed. In order to stop this we need to force social media sites to cover the big news events in a better way than they are currently.
10. Phone absorption
On top of my last point, our society is absorbed by everything that is in our phone. People can't even hold conversations anymore because they have to check their phones. It gets ridiculous. In order to stop this rude behavior, cell phone companies need to dial back the advertisement of how being on your phone is cool and instead make it be seen as a tool.
Hi Kevin! We have some similarities on our lists. I also wrote about obesity, global warming, terrorism, and poverty. I appreciate your unique approach to targeting larger-scale issues such as ignorance and hunger in general -- issues that generate other important issues like political unrest and homelessness. I wish I had included phone absorption on my list. I, too, agree people can no longer effectively hold conversations anymore because they're either checking their phones or communicating via texting. People need to know how to effectively communicate or we're never going to be able to solve any of the world's problems!

Hey Kevin!
ReplyDeleteWe put a lot of similar issues on our lists. Global warming, poverty, and terrorism just to name a few. The item on your list that resonated with me the most - mainly because I didn't think of it - is your last issue, phone absorption. I never would have thought of that one, and its really something that's important to me. Some days I get on a bus, sit down and look around and EVERY PERSON is on their phone! I try to be mindful of the times that I use it, so that I too will not be caught in the trap of endless scrolling through social media feeds.
