My Bug List

Here are the top 20 things that "bug" me and the reasoning why these things happen:
1. When companies e-mail you about special offers every day.
- Companies are trying to make you only think about their products by drilling their sales and discounts everyday.
2. This ice-cream shop on Sanibel Island that does not take credit cards but only cash.
-This is probably because this company has conservative management that does not want to change the ways the company was built on.
3. When customer service lines direct you to call other numbers, like Apple.
-With such a huge company, their are probably multiple headquarters that deal with different issues of the company.
4. When companies like the bike shop back home tries to sell you really expensive parts to fix an issue with your product but end up not fixing it.
- This is due to two factors: 1. The company wants to make a profit over satisfying the customer, or 2. The company lacks the knowledge it advertises to have.
5. How parking restrictions are always ill advertised.
-This is probably due to the fact that advertising this information would cost a lot of money to a company that does not have a big profit.
6. At Walmart when they have so many checkout lines but only a few are open.
- Walmart has trouble in fining enough people to hire there for they can not make a large workforce at these locations.
7. When companies like Protein manufactures use shoddy research and make outrageous claims.
- With a company that is just starting out, research and development may take a huge chunk of their profit.
8. Also when protein manufactures use an overload of statistics to advertise their products.
- It's a marketing strategy to get people who are not as knowledgeable about the industry to buy their products
9. When pharmaceutical companies make commercials and list off a million side effects like death or cancer.
- This is probably because of legal reasons.
10. When companies like Coca-Cola lie about their nutrition facts on their products.
-This is due to broad guidelines set by the FDA.
11. When foreign restaurants have employees that do not speak much English and you can not understand them when they repeat your order and you get overcharged.
-This is due to the low wages of these companies that drive in foreign workers.
12. When phone companies like LG sell you their products but make you buy their charging cord separately.
- This happens when competing companies are able to sell their products at a lower cost therefore making the other company cut corners.
13. When workers at places like Publix, hand you your receipt and your change at the same time.
- Cashiers are just lazy and do not want to move their hands twice.
14. When female hygiene companies advertise their products during NFL games.
-Television networks will take any money they can.
15. How black Friday deals have now started to start on late Thursday afternoon.
- Companies were gaining less and less of a profit on black Friday.
16. When church companies hire officers to handle the traffic lights after mass gets out.
- Church attendance have surpassed the capacity of the roads near these churches.
17. When Best Buy employees greet you at the door and ask you if they could help you find something.
- After a few customers complained they could not find their products they made someone from the workforce be designated at all times to help customers.
18. When restaurants like the Chile's in Gainesville did not have some of their ingredients like cilantro listed on their meals.
- This probably was caused by lazy rereading skills when publishing the menus.
19 Also when this same Chile's instructed their brand new servers to work on their first day without someone shadowing them.
- They probably had an influx of people come to their restaurants and did not have the proper amount of people on the clock at this time.
20. When weight loss companies make outrageous claims like "lose ten pounds in ten days" that are physically impossible.
- This is also a marketing tool to get ill advised people to sign up for their services.

After creating this lead it lead my to realize a lot about myself. At first it was very hard for me to think of things that truly bother me. I thought I was pretty easy-going. But once I wrote a few done, they all started to come to me and I was even able to type as fast as my ideas were being molded in my brain. There really are some annoying nuances of everyday life, especially now that I live on my own.

  1. Kevin, you listed a lot of bugs here that I didn't even think about but realized they should have made my list of 20, especially the one about Black Friday starting on Thursday now... I completely agree with what you posted in your reflection. I found this assignment to be difficult as well at first but then the ideas just kept coming after the first initial few. I think that a lot of your bugs and explanations were well justified. See my Pesky Bug List here: http://buschuf.blogspot.com/2016/01/the-pesky-bug-list.html
